Vogue declares the demi bob not just a hair trend, but a Beauty Phenomenon. The bob length is described as hitting “anywhere between mid-neck and shoulder-dusting”.
Examples of this phenom? Alexa Chung…
Natalia Vodianova and Brooklyn Decker.
And according to Vogue, the original inspiration was model Arizona Muse. (Appropriately named!)
One could argue that hair length hitting between mid-neck and shoulders is really just a bob but whatever. Vogue has been in business since 1892! Each month they have to come up with some new/old trend, right?
So what do you think of this beauty phenomenon? Will you be chopping your locks this summer?
Haha, I just did.
I think that this cut looks very much like the long bob (LOB), that Gwyneth Paltrow and a bunch of other celebrities had in 2008. Arizona Muses is shorter than that, it is more like a regular bob.
I like it. I like all the texture from little waves to curly shown with this trend too! Refreshing.
I love it! If I had the guts to chop off my hair, I would definitely go this route!
I’m in the process of growing my hair into a bob…might miss the trend cut off, but I’m still excited!

Wow… it’s really nice… I love it 🙂
I have super damaged hair at the moment and feel like chopping it off might be the best thing for it! this might be the cut… Just need to pluck up the courage! eeek
I’ve been wearing a bob in and out for double digit years. I had a VCR tape of myself(that’s how long back) with a bang-less bob and that keeps encouraging me to always go back to the bob. My last cut, was a feathered bob, angled down from eyebrows to chin. The feathers framed my face and looked great. I kept trimming the angles and wound up having bangs. The fellow I was seeing (still do) likes me better with the bangs. Well, came to the point I HAD to get it cut, because I fumbled it, and got it all cut off, layered. It was SO cool last summer! It grew in, layerd and I HAD to cut it again.Couldn’t wait another minute. Only because I knew the receptionist, I went to another stylist. I like men to cut my hair, because I feel they know what men may like in a cut. This time I got a layered bob, with longer bags and when all was done, THEN I colored it. I’ve got white, salt/pepper,dishwater grey,so the highlights are stupendous! I’m 55 and by looking at these pics, I know, now, what cut to stick to because my face shape is long, like Alex Chung. I can volumize the sides, put the hair behind my ears, blow hair under in the back and get compliments. I use SAMI Ice and scrunch it. It’s been maybe a month, now and I can feel the ends of the layers becoming dry. Used a pantene creme conditioner (leave in) for women of color(didn’t realize that, ’till I got home) and used grape seed oil conditioner with it. Left it on overnite until 8:30 next evening. I’ll keep doing this for the ends. At any rate, I’m confident with this cut, now. Bobs are always classic. If you want to see one of the greatest cuts for a bob, I have EVER seen, catch the silent youtube movie ‘Pandora’s Box”. I apologize, I cannot remember this actresses name but she was all the rage. The cut on her bob is ‘phenomenol’, ‘out of this world’, ‘absolutely fantastic’….. The sublte angles her stylist used, back then can only be repeated if you show this to a stylist and the cat better be highly experienced to pull it off. You want to see a bob, go to this movie. Bob’s were really the rage in the 20’s. The cuts themselves, are superlative!
