First of all, I’m sorry I’ve been absent lately! I’ve been working hard over on Take Sunset, but I’ve missed you guys. You can always follow my me over there, if you want. And I am on tumblr too, so you can follow me there. See? Plenty of ways to be totally sick of me! But of course I can never abandon this place because, well, I have a permanent case of hair on the brain.
HAIR ON MY BRAIN:
Blow Dryers – I work from home so most of the time if I want to have wavy, crazy lady hair–just like Bobby says–it’s my prerogative. But there are some instances where I actually need to look presentable, and since I have certifiably long hair now, and it needs to be blow dried into submission. And, um, the travel hair dryer that I use isn’t really cutting it. But if I were to invest in a real blow dryer, which one should I get? There are sooo many to choose from…
Brooklyn Decker – Celebrity stylist Ted Gibson cut ten inches off of Brooklyn Decker’s hair, and she’s now sporting a new fresh + clean new chin-length bob. I think it makes her seem more interesting… Or maybe just more like January Jones? I do like the brighter blonde color, which was done by Jason Backe. He says, “I incorporated two trends: gold tones–super hot for spring and summer! –and bold, contrasting ribbons of blonde.” He explains, “(We’re) stepping away from the monochromatic or subtle tone-on-tone looks from the last few seasons.”
Bangs – Speaking of celebrity hair switcheroos, Hilary Duff got bangs (again). Hilary changes her hair from time to time, so this isn’t super shocking, but it’s cute, no? And speaking of bangs, I got a trim from Rebecca at Argyle Salon and kind of of got bang-bangs again myself. They are always such a good idea in theory, but they are such a pain in the ass to style. Rebecca even said I have “challenging bangs“. (Why doesn’t that surprise me?) I’m still trying to figure out the best way to cope with my challenge. So far it involves an elaborate system of alligator clips, round brushes, combs, my minuscule hair dryer … tears… starting over…
Well, I do love a challenge.
I have questions for you! What’s your favorite hair dryer? Do you like Brooklyn Decker’s haircut? How do you style your bangs? Kisses.
Is your fringe challenging because of cowlicks? Like, it won’t lay very flat, or darts off to one side? The best way to deal with that is to blow dry them with the blowdryer always pointing down the hair (to smooth the cuticle down) and to continuously follow your brush with your blowdryer as you brush your fringe down and to the right a couple times then down and to the left a couple times and just keep switching brushing hair from side to side until dry. It is slightly time consuming, but it’s the best way to deal with any fringe difficulties, also you’ll probably want to blow dry your fringe before the rest of your hair, so it doesn’t have time to start drying all wonky. Hope that’s helpful!
Hi Lana B!
YES. I have 2 cowlicks in my bangs, it’s very annoying. They are on both sides, left and right. I have been trying to section my bangs and dry them in increments, per the suggestion of my stylist, and then just doing basically what you said, drying them straight down with a boar bristle round brush, but not drying them under, just using the brush to smooth them straight down. Maybe I will trying doing it more side to side. Also, my stylist recommended just hitting the very ends under with the round brush/hair dryer, but I think I might be doing that too much because it’s turning out a bit wonky. I still need to experiment. I will get it right! (Maybe.) But thank you so much for these tips though! I appreciate it.
I really like Brooklyn Decker’s hair. I also appreciate the fact that she looks like a normal (very pretty) person in her photo, aka not photoshopped to death or wearing gobs of makeup.
I use a fairly cheap hair dryer but I don’t blow dry that often… can’t help you much there!
Alyssa: That pic is from her twitter & I was being a lazy blogger and didn’t credit! Here is the link: http://yfrog.com/user/BrooklynDDecker/photos
Girl, I love my Valera 9200 with rotocord. It’s light weight. Awesome heat and cool shot button. And rotocord that prevents it from tangles.
Hi Anna Lee! I have actually tried the Valera 9200 and I notice that salons use it… I didn’t totally love it though. Maybe I am just hard to please. :/ hee.
I just got a Hana Professional blow dryer a few months ago and I love it so far. It was a little expensive but I have super thick hair, and it’s been an awesome time saver in the morning. I’m set and styled in 20 minutes, compared to 30-35 with my old vidal sassoon.
Kind of off topic, but those feather hair extensions are everywhere! And, back on topic, I love Ted Gibson almost as much as I love Tabatha.
Amy: LOL at “off topic” on a post like this. nothing would be off topic here! regarding the feather extensions, they ARE everywhere! I saw that Argyle Salon was doing them and I know jordana lorraine does them and I’ve been seeing them on celebs all the time. I like them on other people… And Ted Gibson is a cutie, but Tabatha is the ultimate. LOVE HER.
I love love love Solano hairdryers. It’s powerful and I’ve seen them used in salons. Worth the money.
Miss you, V!
Love the bangs wish she was blondebut she loves changing her hair. I like Decker’s color but I think a bit longer would have been better!
Brooklyn Decker’s new look is great going into summer!!!
How to choose a wig
Choosing the right wig (hair prosthesis) can be a difficult decision. If you choose to wear a wig, the best wig for you will be one that:
1、Appears natural-looking.
2、Feels comfortable and fits well.
3、Fits your budget.
When you shop for a wig, be sure to ask three questions:
What kind of hair is the wig made of?
How is the wig made?
How do you attach the wig to the scalp?
If you want to know more details, you can google thiswig for further information.
Loving Brooklyn’s hair – I’d chop mine off if it didn’t take so dang long to grow out!
