Along with Khloe Kardashian, Lauren Conrad also changed her hair color. Reportedly to “brown”, but I’m still seeing blonde! Maybe because of all those blonde highlights in the front… Lauren’s stylist Kristin Ess told Us Weekly that Lauren has been thinking about going brunette for a long time. “It was just time to go for it,” Kristin said. “We’ve done so many variations of blonde in the past and it’s fun to do something new.”
They used Mila Kunis and Jessica Biel‘s “Brazilian brown” shades as inspiration for Lauren’s new color. To get the desired effect, Kristin first painted on a warm brown base, followed by highlights around the face and ends, and then topped off the color with a golden gloss to add shine.
Even though I don’t see a major change (or brown hair), I think Lauren’s hair looks great! It’s super healthy, shiny and beautiful.
What do you think: Does this seem like a major hair change for Lauren? And more importantly, do you like it or do you like her better with blonder hair?
I love it!
I love it! It really looks good on her
looks good!
lol… I like your skepticism about it being brown, I don’t see ‘brunette’ either! Not a big fan of LC, I feel like she always looks the same, but I do think that blonde is more fitting for her/her personality. I would like to see her as an actual brunette though, with a dark dark brown shade! I think that would be interesting and definitely so different for her. This just looks like a slightly darker version of her usual hair color.
Come on, it’s totally brown! She looks gorge.
he he I think I like her better blonde. 😛
preeeeettty!! i love this!
I love the color! Thats the color I want!! =) I dont understand how they can call that brown though? It’s a darker blond, duh! =)
Lisa: I agree. It’s just dark blonde to me and not brown. But whatever–it’s gorgeous! 😉
Very pretty, especially for the winter months!
i love it!
good. love it.
ok i am so glad you posted this. here is my question– how do you know if you can go brown. sure, my hair is a nasty dull brown (with a hint of green, i swear) naturally, but i have been blonde for so long i don’t know how to be anything else.
the couple of times i’ve dyed it brown (never professionally) i’ve been semi-disgusted and feel so unlike myself i can’t stand it.
but i would like some rich dark hair! surely there has got to be some version of brunette that won’t make my skin also look green.. or gray, worse. What’s the key? Simply ask my hairdresser?
lisa: yes, you can go brown! here are some random recommendations…
you natural hair color pulls green because of natural ash tones so if you put an ash brown over that, it probably makes it even more ash (green). so you’d need a warmer brown to neutralize the green.
Also, if your hair is on the blonde side and then you try to go to a cool brown, you’re going to end up with green as well because blonde hair holds the pigment yellow and then you’re putting brown dye over it, which holds the pigment of blue. yellow + blue = green! So, yeah, to counteract that I would think a red-based brown would help. This probably makes no sense, but I’m bad at explaining hair color stuff. If anyone has a better handle on this, please feel free to comment too!!
But mainly, don’t use a box dye. In fact, don’t dye it yourself unless you are ok with experiments! I would recommend going to someone who is great with color–they will know what to do. And did I mention, don’t ever use box dye? 😉
haha. i love it. actually that does make sense. i would never ever purchase brown dye with a warm hue, as i’m so terrified of an accidental engingering. i never thought about the fact that the color is going on to of another color– so you get the mix of that.
next time i see my hairdresser, i am going to dare to ask about brown. eek!
thank yewwww
lisa: you could totally do this LC style “brown”–it would be gorgeous!
I always did think she looked like Carmen Electra…
