Hair On The Brain reader & commenter Brett asked for tips on how to ombre your hair, when you already have lighter colored ends and want to add dark color on the top part of your hair instead. Check out this video for advice on doing at-home, reverse ombre application. However, I recommend not using box dye like they do in this video. Go to your local beauty supply, like Sally Beauty, and purchase color & developer, like Ion Demi-Permanent Hair Color.
wooohoooooo you guys are the best thanks so much! xoxo
good advice to use demi… or even semi… when coloring your hair at home
Whitney: Yes, I also wanted to add if anyone is reading this! That if you dye with demi too many times it can start to “act” like permanent hair color, so watch out for that. Meaning that it will not wash out of your hair & will stick around until you remove it–especially through your hair’s lengths so it is a good idea to just re-dye your roots (not the lengths) when you can with demi.
I want to have a lighter on top darker on bottom. I’m already brunette, with a dark dark brown in my hair already. Are there any tips for doing a light on top/dark on bottom?
