HOTB reader Amy recently cut about six inches off her hair to achieve a cut similar to the new Stroup Pixie. Amy sent me this link to Jessica’s new cut at he Vanessa Bruno Grand Opening Party in Los Angeles. As always, Jessica Stroup looks super cute, but I would have lessened the volume at the crown.
I like it better a little more slicked back, like here. Or actually, something in-between the two would be perfect! Of the new cut, Jessica’s stylist is Jen Atkin says: “This cut works best on a round or oval face, and when it’s really roughed-up and piecey. Our inspiration was Carey Mulligan on the cover of Vogue a few months back.” Jen adds, “A dab of texturizing putty is key.” (Amy says she uses spray gloss to get her new short hair to act right.) Jen’s final pixie tip: “Be sure your stylist gets out a lot of the weight of your hair so that the shape of your cut can really show through,” she says.
Do you like this choppy, textured pixie on Jessica Stroup? Would you go this short?
Ooohhhh, cute!!!! I like it!
Me too. All her haircuts are so cute!
I like it – she’s adorable and would look good in almost any style – but I much prefer the bob on her.
Cindy: the bob was v. cute!
so, I am debating between something like this and growing my already longish hair longer a la Lauren Conrad – how funny you post them back to back!
My question is would this work with hair that is stick straight and on the fine side? I’m talking about no wave of any sort. And I see where is said it works for us round-faced girls – so, my head won’t look like a beach ball?
Hi Shannon: i think it depends on other face shape factors, personally. Like, I have a rounder jawline and I think having my hair at least to my collarbone helps soften this. But if you look at Stroup, she has a pretty round but almost heartshaped face (her face goes down to a point at her chin) and she looks great with short hair. I have been noticing lately that the people that look really good with pixie cuts are not just the ones who have the typical pretty/big eyes but have very defined, small chins. I think that’s why Jessica Stroup and Rihanna for example look good with short hair Check that out and see what you think!
I would think a pixie would work with straight fine hair unless it is super duper fine. Maybe make a consultation appointment with a great stylist to get their in-person opinion?
