On Rob‘s first day off since our wedding, he spent a good hour tolerating me endlessly wandering around the Sephora at Westfield Topanga Mall. He didn’t even complain when I dragged him back, after he thought he’s finally escaped, to purchase Buxom Insider Eyeliner that I just had to have after seeing my eyes in the mall’s bathroom mirror. One plus for him is that the Sephora is conveniently located next to the Apple store. Brilliant move, Westfield Mall! Ok, let’s break down my Sephora haul…
Make Up For Ever HD Invisible Cover Foundation: #118, Flesh – Sadie used this foundation on me for my wedding and I fell in love with it. I’d been struggling to find a foundation that didn’t cause my skin to break out, or leave it oily after a half an hour, yet provided lightweight coverage. So far so good with Make Up For Ever HD! I really like the even light coverage, and it stays a nice neutral tone on my light (but prone to redness thanks to a bit of Rosacea) skin tone. Another major plus with Make Up For Ever is the pump bottle packaging, very hygienic, which I dig.
Make Up For Ever HD Microperfecting Primer: #1, Green – This was a spur of the moment purchase. I never buy beauty products without doing research in advance–reading boards, blog reviews, etc. But I’d been wanting a good primer and this one said it was a “lightweight, oil-free complexion corrector that enhances the skin’s texture and primes the skin for makeup application–good for reducing redness and those with Rosacea.” Um. SOLD. Oh, Sephora you are a dangerous temptress.
Make Up For Ever HD Microfinish Blush: #5, Nip Slip – And since I was lollygagging in the Make Up For Ever section, I just had to check out blush, right? The Microfinish Blushes are to die for. All of the colors are so beautiful. I love this line because it’s really about the makeup–not about flashy, overly complex products or packaging. The shade I bought, Nip Slip (so cute) is totally gorgeous–a nice neutral pink that looks like a fresh wash of color. And it lasts and lasts and laaaaaasts. I’m so obsessed with MUFE right now. I really want to try some of the line’s eye makeup next. I hope Make Up For Ever’s PR person is read this. Hee.
Lancome Eyebrow Pencil in Nautral Blonde – When I got my eyebrows done by Sadie Wilson at Roman Salon, she shaded them afterward and they looked really nice. I asked her what pencil she used and it was Lancome Natural Blonde! Crazy because that was the exact eyebrow pencil I’d used for yeeeaaars before I went searching for something ‘better‘. Well, now I’m back to Lancome. Sometimes you should just stick with what’s working. 🙂
Anastatia Eyebrow Gel – I’ve always wanted to try Anastatia eyebrow products. This is just a basic clear eyebrow gel, but I was in the market for one! I like it a lot so far. It has great holding power and does not get dry and flaky.
Buxom Insider Eyeliner – This is the eyeliner I debated over, put back, and then ended up dragging Rob BACK to Sephora to purchase! I already have this liner in Sapphire, a teal indigo shade, which I use almost every day. It’s really great for lining the inner rims of your eyes for definition. The liner is very gentle, glides on easily, and doesn’t tug. It’s a versatile product and comes in a lot of really pretty colors, like Amethyst, a deep violet shade, which apparently I could not live without. I also bought it in Pearl, which is a true white–perfect for lightly lining the inner rims of eyes when you need to look well-rested, regardless of what was going on the night before. 😉Â
Boscia MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil – A repurchase. I use this stuff religiously but my first bottle took forever to go through. I really cannot say enough good things about using an oil cleanser to remove your makeup and sunscreen before washing your skin. This step has really helped my skin.
Buxom Lash in Blackest – I have this mascara is Blue Noir, which I looove and will need to repurchase at some point, but I’ve always wanted it in basic black for everyday wear. I think Buxom Lash is probably my favorite mascara of ALL TIME. That is saying a lot because I’ve tried a bazillion mascaras in my day!
And there we have it, my Sephora splurge! I never buy that much makeup at once; it was so fun. So tell me: What beauty products have you splurged on lately?
Very nice haul!! I love the products you bought! I was at WestFarms Mall in CT yesterday and bought one item at Sephora…the same MUFE HD foundation in 115. I love it, but, think I need that primer too 🙂 I also went to the MAC store and bought a lipstick in Sequin…..highly recommend. It’s so pretty on 🙂
Hi Valerie! Nice name. 😉 It would have been bad news bears if I went into MAC too yesterday! I’ve been dying for more MAC pigments. And their lip stuff is great.
Not to fuel your Makeup Forever binge, but have you tried their HD Microfinish Powder? It’s FABULOUS. It makes your skin look practically flawless. I use that without foundation even and I feel like it really makes my skin look model-esque.
I have the Anastasia brow kit, which includes the clear brow gel, and it’s the best makeup kit I’ve ever bought. They have a really great brow bone highlighter pencil as well if you’re in the market for one.
I’m obsessed with mascara, I’m going to have to try the Buxom line out!
Lana B: I haven’t tried the Microfinish Powder but I was just reading reviews today! Of course, now I really want it after reading your comment!! And dooood. I have been wanting that Anastasia Brow Kit for ages! Why are you doing this to me?? 😉
It’s also located next to the food court!
Rob: true!
Wow, lots of MUFE!
Veflexra: never enough MUFE!
