As Hair on the Brain commenter Darren so wisely pointed out, Sarah Jessica Parker‘s hairstyle was a bit off on the Oscar’s red carpet last night.
But SJP wins style points by going with an interesting fashion trends of the season–skin art. She accessorize her Chanel Couture dress with a Peter Philips’ limited-edition temporary tattoos from Chanel’s Spring collection. See it? And god those real bracelets? To.Die.For.
Back to the hair: There was definitely a lot of texture being played around with last night. We saw it on Zoe Saldana and Jennifer Lopez, but seen here on Sarah Jessica, I think it’s just went too far into frizz territory without enough volume at the crown to back it up. I actually like the overall style, especially the oversized twisted bun in the back. Sometimes I hate that look, but I think it works on Sarah Jessica because she can really pull off strong looks. I just wish someone had smoothed down those baby hairs!
The hair SJP could have had after the break.
This is the original Chanel Couture dress on the runway! Pretty gorgeous. And this is the hair she could have had, people!
I really liked how the hairstyles seemed more approachable and less “done”. I don’t really mind the frizzies too much on SJP, but when I saw all that hair on the back of her head I immediately thought it couldn’t possibly all be her own hair.
She has gorgeous beautiful long hair, but it looked like a lot of hairpieces were involved to achieve all those buns…which seemed a bit heavy on her to me. I didn’t love this look (dress, etc.) on her but I still think she’s great, and a great style icon!
Tracy: You put this perfectly! Her dress/look was important in the fashion sense. The hair and dress worked together to give a ’60s feel. I agree with what people were saying–she has such a great figure & this dress covered it up. But it’s still exciting fashionwise to see SJP turn up and turn it out.
