Mia in Wonderland

The cartoon version of Alice in Wonderland was my absolute favorite movie as a kid and is still one of my favorites to this day, so I’m unsure how I feel about the Tim Burton remake… I like Tim Burton but I don’t want him messing with a classic–my classic. Plus, it looks over done to me with the 3D effects. And I thought Johnny Depp was Elijah Wood until like a week ago.

I do like that it’s not strictly a remake of the 1951 Alice in Wonderland and is instead a new story. The synopsis: A 19-year-old Alice returns to Wonderland where she reunites with the characters she met there as a child and learns of her true destiny: to end the Red Queen’s reign of terror. Hmm… Still undecided.

I saw the actress who plays Alice, Mia Wasikowska, on TMZ yesterday with her newish short haircut. I think she was a good choice for Alice, and I like her short hair.

It looks particularly cute in this candid shot. It was bugging me why Mia looked so familiar until I looked her up on IMDb. She was Sophie on the first season of In Treatment! I love In Treatment and Mia Wasikowska was amazing on the show. … Now I want to see Alice more.

A bunch more pics of Mia after the break, including long hair shots, her recent Teen Vogue editorial and new Alice video.

Until recently, Mia has had long hair throughout her career. Here she is at the Hollywood Film Festival’s Gala Ceremony in October, 2008.

And at the 2008 AFI FEST Closing Night Gala Screening of Defiance in Hollywood. I like the long hair on Mia a bit better, even though I like her short cut too. Her hair is just so gorgeous, I like to see a lot of it.

Mia (and her new short ‘do) are the March cover girl for Teen Vogue. She looks so gorgeous in the Alice in Wonderland inspired editorial…

And here’s a sneak peek from Alice.

And here’s a closer look at Mia Wasikowska’s character, Sophie, in HBO’s In Treatment:
