For everyone who has been with me on the to do or not to bang obsession. This post might just tip the scales. I present to you the Hair Inspiration: Jane Birkin. As in Birkin bag, people! Hermès named and designed the Birkin bag for Jane in 1984. The above pic is Jane at the Louvre in Paris in 1969. Like, wow, could anything be more perfect?
baaaaaaaaaangs.
More Jane after the break.
Jane + Serge Gainsbourg.
le sigh.
She was my inspiration when I got bangs.. alas, Jane did not have a cowlick. But she is frikkin’ gorgeous.
Alyssa, she is so gorg, right? I have to remind myself getting bangs will not turn me into a model/pop star living in france in the ’60s. 😉
I’ve come to the realization after many painful trials and errors that bangs just don’t work for me. They look great on some people, but on me they stick straight out or fly in the wind or get in my eyes, bleh. Too much work. No bangs for me. Regardless of how good they look on celebrities and models. Celebrities and models have stylists to fix bangs for them. I, unfortunately, do not.
Tracy, I hear you. But long side-swept bangs are easier to deal with. That’s the route I would go. Have you had that kind?
that was my initial bang inspiration, too. i too had to remember that skinny model hair does not directly translate to an easy breezy skinny model look. after a while, i felt like my hair was kinda bland and had no style, and for a moment eeeeveryone had long bangs, so i had to switch it up. still rockin the bangs, but now they’re short and fun and choppy.
Kat, weird. while reading your comment, I remembered that I had a DREAM last night that I had the most amazing bangs and they looked so cute, cute, cute on me, like best hair of my life.
*THIS* kind of thing is why I have this blog. I dream hair. hee.
Also, I have been pondering the curly hair/bang thing, which is … you! right? cause you have curls + bangs. I am into this idea, even though I do not have curls.
Nice look & feel, but do you really need this luxury stuff?
