Runway Report: DKNY & Derek Lam

DKNY Spring/Summer 2010 styled every model with severely slicked back hair–those with long hair had simple ponytails. It was a clean, classic, no-fuss style that was pretty boring. Although this picture only somewhat represents it, a substantial amount of the collection featured bold floral patterns and bright colors. Maybe they thought “done” hair and makeup would be overpowering with the clothes? I think they went too simple, though, and it came across boring. I want to see a show! I also didn’t love the collection. What do you think?

Derek Lam actually did something with the hair and makeup for his Spring/Summer 2010. All the models had sort of curly, messy updos. And they had actual makeup on, instead of this understate thing that a lot of designers seem to be doing. I loved Derek Lam’s whole collection and look. It’s very ladylike, yet sexy and quirky, too. I found myself wanting to look at these pictures over and over again. So I will post a bunch for your viewing pleasure!
