True Brazilian Hair Treatment

The “Brazilian Blowout” hair treatment has become a pretty big phenomenon in the U.S., as women are constantly looking for a low maintenance way to combat frizz and restore health and shine to their over processed hair.

Mauricio Ribeiro, a hairstylist from Brazil, brought his Brazilian beauty secrets to the States, introducing the “True Brazilian Hair Treatment” to L.A., first at Argyle Salon & Spa, and more recently at B2V on Doheny in Beverly Hills. And Ribeiro now provides a newly product line that helps this treatment improve the texture of the hair considerably.

“Because I’m from Brazil, I go there often and I’m exposed to the latest products and treatments being used by Brazilian salons,” says Ribeiro. “I really believe it is important to stay connected with the latest treatments and techniques.”

The True Brazilian Hair Treatment utilizes amino acid, keratin-based products to smooth and relax hair and calm dry fly-always, giving it the appearance of a freshly blown-out mane for up to eight weeks. Formaldehyde-free, the True Brazilian products are infused with the acai-berry, which is rich in antioxidants and allows hair to retain the silky results for even longer. While earlier renditions of this Brazilian-style blowout were criticized for their harsh chemical contents, the True Brazilian exposes hair to less toxicity than a basic dye.

The 90-minute True Brazilian treatment is simple. Ribeiro starts by washing a client’s hair so that the products can better adhere to the hair shaft. He then applies the True Brazilian formulation to each strand. Next, the hair is blown dry and flat ironed; the heat from the blow dryer and flat iron activate the True Brazilian “magic”. When Ribeiro finishes flat-ironing the hair, clients are ready to go, as the formulation can be neutralized at home with basic water. This new formula eliminates the hassle of having to wait 48 hours before washing the hair.

Ribeiro is excited about the results he’s experiencing with this newly formulated product line. “Improved technology has really helped this treatment evolve,” he says, noting that in the past clients needed to keep their hair straight and dry for the first 48 hours, whereas now the results are immediate. “This treatment is perfect for all types of hair and allows active individuals to maintain soft, beautiful hair without a lot of effort. And, the results are cumulative, so the more you have the treatment done, the more the appearance of your hair will evolve.”

If you want to try out the True Brazillian line, Ribeiro offers his exclusive treatments at B2V Salon, 646 N. Doheny Dr., Beverly Hills, (310) 777-0345 or (310) 777-76484and at Chris McMillan Salon, 8944 Burton Way, Beverly Hills, (310) 285-0088.
