When you’re working as a freelance writer, it’s pretty easy to get into a routine of not “getting ready”.
You know that part of your day when you get out of bed, take a shower, blow dry your hair and put on makeup? Well, I don’t really have to do that anymore because my office consist of my couch and laptop, and my co-workers are my asthmatic cat and my newly adopted dog. It’s easy to just roll out of bed and hit “the office” in sweatpants.
Don’t get me wrong–I love my freelance life. The flexibility is amazing. My work breaks consist of whatever last night’s DVR caught (The Hills!) and running over to the gym. But the negative side is always feeling kinda shlubby because I’m never made up.
I know, I know. I’m pretty on the inside! And I should feel good without makeup. Blah, blah, blah. The fact is, I feel better when I put in a little effort. But I’m also terminally lazy in that area and mostly couldn’t be bothered unless I need to look “nice”.
But I also LOVE makeup and am kind of obsessed with the whole concept. I love trying out the latest products and love, love writing about makeup.
(I know, I have like 15 personalities going on here. It’s complicated.)
While we let the many sides of HOTB duke it out internally, let’s all gaze at the gorgeous glamour puss above and soak in some Tuesday hair (and makeup!) inspiration. Maybe she’ll inspire me to throw on some mascara today at the very least.
Wow – that is Jessica Rabbit come to life.
Yes, totally! A redhead Veronica Lake. đŸ˜‰
My boyfriend comes home for lunch most days, so I use that as an incentive to “get ready.” Even on days he can’t make it home, I’m enough in the habit of showering and dressing and putting on a little make-up before noon, that I do those things anyway. But I never blow dry my hair — I just spent too much of my formative years in the Ozarks for that.
I’m impressed, Wendy! Even minus the hairdryer. But that’s better for your hair anyway. đŸ˜‰
